Safeguarding your rental property
At Darlows we’re serious about property and passionate about driving up standards across our industry. Next year we’ll be celebrating our 30th anniversary and throughout the last three decades we’ve witnessed first-hand the complete transformation of the private rented sector.
Anyone renting a property must comply with a multitude of increasingly stringent and complex regulations. That means we’re continuously adapting our practices and processes to ensure our customers don’t fall foul of the law, and that both landlords and tenants have their interests protected.
We’ve always been in support progressive regulation that ensures the UK’s growing number of private tenants can live in safe homes, and the increasing number of changes that go alongside this has meant that our people development activities have become an ever-more important focus for our leadership team.
Our Head of Learning and Development ensures our company-wide training programme embeds our culture and vision. Meanwhile, our processes are adapted when new legislation introduced.
We invest in NALS training for all branch staff that deal with listing properties and completing market appraisals. This nationally recognised training programme demonstrates our commitment to a specific set of standards for our landlords and our tenants.
This is great news for you, because as the regulations become increasingly complex, we ensure you’re not only complying with industry obligations, but we also protecting your interests, for example:
- We operate Client Money protection procedures meaning your rent is safe
- We undertake Right to Rent checks
- We’re members of a redress scheme in the event something does go wrong
- We’ll advise on any local License Scheme requirements
At the same time, we also place significant emphasis on ensuring tenants have a good experience whilst they rent a home from Darlows – ensuring the homes we manage at the very least comply with the rules, including:
- Arranging Energy Performance Certificates
- Protecting the tenant’s deposit
- Ensuring smoke alarms are in good working order
- Completing an annual gas safety check
We strongly believe landlords who use a professional agent, particularly for a managed service are helping raise the standards across the industry. As a consequence of our investment in training we’re not only helping to provide safe homes for our tenants, we’re also looking after the interests of our landlords.
Meanwhile, as the investment in our people grows, Property Management has become a rewarding and professional career choice.
